DeportationsDeportation: Deportation is the expulsion of an alien of the United States. Deportation is the responsibility of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services of the Dept. of Justice. The largest group of deported persons are those who have entered the country illegally, though you can also be deported for committing serious crimes or violating the terms of your visa.Deportation Relief: There are some ways to avoid deportation if you are convicted of a crime, these include: long term permanent residents who have not been convicted of certain serious felonies; persons who have been in the U.S. for a long period of time and can show that being forced to leave would cause serious hardship to their family members who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents; persons who would be subject to torture or other physical harm if they were returned to certain countries; persons who would be subject to persecution on account of political opinion, race, national origin, or membership in a particular social group; or persons who are married to U.S. citizens or can qualify for permanent resident status. Out of Status: Typically, one who is "out of status" is one who violated the terms of their admission into the United States, by, for instance, working on a student visa. Undocumented Alien: An undocumented alien is an individual who enters the U.S. illegally, without proper documentation Please call us for a consultation at (646) 220-4697 Deportation |
